[News] Machine Gun Kelly Arrested!

Rapper Machine Gun Kelly's tour took an unexpected stop early this morning -- to jail ... after he was busted by police in Florida for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to the website for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, MGK (real name Richard Baker) was busted at 4:12 AM and released a few hours later after posting $100 bond.

Kelly tweeted about the arrest, saying, "Just spent my entire night in a f**king Florida jail...s**t escaladed way to quick last night, it always does with us though."

MGK is currently touring and played the State Theatre in St. Petersburg last night. His next tour date is in Los Angeles on February 8.

[News] Chris Brown Not Doing Any Interviews In 2012

If you are looking forward to interviewing or have any questions for Chris Brown in 2012, you may have to wait until a year later or maybe even longer. According to C. Breezy’s manager Tina Davis, Breezy won’t be doing any interviews for the year and will be focused on recording and performing.

“We’re not trying to be rude, selfish or disrespectful to anyone in any way. If people are going to judge anything, judge him for his talent.”

Unfortunately, in the year 2012 Breezy won’t be making many appearances in magazines, tv shows etc. For us Breezy fans, we can watch Chris as he make his return to the Grammy Awards in February, after having to skip the biggest awards show in music for the past three years.

A source close to Chris says that he’s a completely different person now and people should give him a second chance to prove he’s transitioned from a kid to a man.

“Chris has grown tremendously as a person, and an artist from that time in his life. [He] has complied with all terms of his probation and has completed most of his court ordered community service. He has been a model probationer, but more importantly, Chris accepted responsibility for what he did.[...]Chris took that experience and vowed to learn from it and become a better person, and he was thrilled and truly humbled that he was nominated for three Grammys. Chris absolutely plans on attending the Grammys and is in talks with producers of the show to possibly perform.”

[Breaking News] Nick Cannon Is In The Hospital

We just learned that Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon was RUSHED to the hospital in Aspen, CO yesterday with kidney failure. We're told that he is currently in stable condition.

What happened? Well it's NOT CLEAR. But we heard that Nick may have suffered a "kidney injury" while sparring with world class WELTERWEIGHT BOXER Amir Khan a few weeks back. It's not clear whether this ailment has anything to do with the injury he suffered.

Here is what Mariah had to say about the situation:

This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are. We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.

We're doing OK but we're "straaaaaanded in Aspen". #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we're together, we're OK. I'm not trying to make light out of the situation because it's a serious moment that's very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM.

[Interview] John Monopoly Talks Managing Kanye West With HipHopDX

The Chicago native, joined by business partner Larro Wilson, talks about Lawless, Inc. and recalls memories with Busta Rhymes, Shawnna and the 2007 Kanye West vs. 50 Cent sales battle.

John Monopoly is primarily known as the manager of Kanye West through his first three albums, but his music industry pedigree goes much further. Aside from taking on West's management duties after the two began making beats together in high school, the Chicago native promoted shows in the area before landing A&R gigs with the likes of Violator Management and Jive Records. Now, after lending his industry know-how to the likes of Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Monica and more, he's fixing his own plate by focusing on Lawless Inc., his new label with partner Larro Wilson. Things are looking good so far, with their flagship artist King Louie's single "Too Cool" and its subsequent remix with 2 Chainz and Red Cafe making waves in their Chi-Town stomping grounds. In an interview with HipHopDX, Monopoly and business partner Larro Wilson talk about their new venture, the differences between Chicago's Rap scene and other major markets, and memorable moments with the likes of Busta Rhymes, Kanye, and Mobb Deep.

HipHopDX: In 2011, and a lot of labels are losing money. Many artists are going the route of leaving out labels altogether from their business. Why start a label, instead of another type of company?

Larro Wilson: A lot of labels are losing money, and a lot of artists aren't going that route, but there's never been a label in Chicago. I think it's easier to distribute music now, with vehicles like the Internet, iTunes, Amazon and Pandora. It costs less money than it did back in the day, so I'm thinking, why not? Why not start a label up, where mainly we just have to take care of our own marketing, promotion and managing the artists, get distribution and then go. We'll see what it do. It's not going to hurt anybody. If it don't do well, it don't do well. If it do well, then we have something to work with. Put it out, and let the people decide.

John Monopoly: I've always wanted to have a situation where we've had more control. I've had situations via major labels, whether it was working with Shawnna or Kanye [West], or even working with the team for Carl [Thomas]. I've been in situations with production companies and major labels, and I've always wanted to have a little more control. I was looking for a partner like Larry [Wilson] who had that same drive and ambition, so we could control something from A to Z. Taking the independent route gets us a little more traffic.

DX: John, you've worked with musicians from all over. How does the music scene in Chicago differ from the scene in other major markets like New York, Los Angeles, or Atlanta?

John Monopoly: The biggest difference... is that in Chicago, the radio and club scene, unfortunately, we don't gravitate to our own content like they do in other markets. You can hear records on Atlanta radio and Atlanta clubs that are only in Atlanta that are just bubbling. I heard Future before he popped, he had three or four records on the radio at one time. It's different culturally in Atlanta and down south. It's a little different with our first artist, with the buzz we've been gaining, we haven't been hit with this problem as much, knock on wood. But typically, we don't support our product like we do products from other places. In New York, you can have French Montana, who's crazy hot on the radio out there, orUncle Murda with a hot Top 10 song only in New York. It's very rare to find a Chicago artist who independently has their own Chicago hits on Chicago radio and in Chicago streets.

[Review] Fabolous - There Is No Competition III: Death Comes In 3's

"There Is No Competition 3" isn't a particularly memorable release. The days of Fabolous' mixtapes being something to write home about has come and gone.

For Christmas, Fabolous was in a giving mood, as the Brooklyn emcee offered fans the third installment in his "There Is No Competition series." WhileLoso's Way 2 is in the works, Fab hopes this one will tide the masses over.

"Death Comes in 3's" sets the tone for TINC 3, letting listeners know that they won't be hearing the Fabolous that caters to the ladies. "You Don't Know Bout It " keeps Fab on the street shit; corny punch lines ("My nigga moved so much Britney Spears / They gave that boy Fed time") and a weak hook drag this one down, not to mention that the beat consists of repetitive organs. The same can be said for "Swag Champ," at which point the listener has to be asking themselves: why is Fab rapping over such sparse production? He's never been such a personality or vocal presence to carry a track (unlike a Busta Rhymes or Eminem), so what's the point of giving him a few bloops and bleeps to rhyme on?

"TINC 3" isn't short on triteness, but just in case, Trey Songz helps the cause on "Spend It" with, "Bitch niggas be talkin', we just call it pussy poppin." "Black City" at least has some more engaging production, as does "Got That Work," which develops as the track progresses. Jadakiss and Styles Pmercifully lend some bars to the project on "B.E.T.," and although neither come with their best, they still force 'Loso to step his game up a bit.
