[Single] Beyonce - Till The World Ends

FULL, HQ, Tagged NO DJ, Rumored 2nd Single off upcoming album, 4
UPDATE: The tagless version does wonders. Download it in HQ above (shouts 2 IABG).  “Till The World Ends” is rumored to be Beyoncé‘s 2nd single off 4, but the numerous ‘for internal use only’ tags kill any sort of groove that you get into throughout the song. Of course feel free to check it out above and see what to expect when a ‘CDQ’ quality officially releases.

[Single] G-Scott ft. Naledge - Soundtrack To Liftoff (Prod. By Ka-flame)

As a final single release before the full release of the upcoming Benzi and Willy Joy hosted mixtape (Scott Bailey Vs The World), I decided to let loose one of the feature tracks from the project called Soundtrack To Liftoff featuring Naledge of Kidz In The Hall. The track is essentially a smooth feel good track explaining the superficial reasoning behind wanting to be successful, and trying to pursue music. In the scheme of the story that is "Scott Bailey Vs The World"; its the track that follows the intro track showing how as an artist I started off one way in thinking but slowly evolve into something I believe greater than just wanting the money, cars and women that come along with acquiring notoriety and fame. The full project is set to drop this weekend and is brought to you by MostlyJunkfood.com, FratMusic.com, WhatsInMyHeadphones, Ynotmydream .net and AshleyOutrageous.com.

[Review] Tyler The Creator - Goblin

Four stars (of five) ☆☆☆☆★

I wrote about Tyler, the Creator‘s debut album/mixtape, Bastard, a month ago. It was released in February 2010 to shock, awe and praise. Since establishing himself as a must-hear, must-watch rapper at the ripe age of 19, fame has invaded his life. Ask him. He can’t skate on his block anymore due to paparazzi or lack of free time. He can’t tweet without 165,000+ followers raising their eyebrows each time.
He hears what message boards write about him. He listens to what his contemporaries say about him (just ask B.o.B). It bothers him when people hate, whether it fits with his image or not. It’s a more human version, the Tyler Okonma to his comma-the-Creator.
So the problem as always with Tyler, a problem he enjoys feeding, is the audience’s struggle to grasp his human side.
Enter, a May 4, 2011 New York Times article on Tyler, written by Jon Caramanica:
“Some songs from Bastard, the title track and ‘Inglorious,’ (Tyler) no longer listens to, he said, because the subject matter — including his absent father — is too difficult. The same will go for ‘Nightmare’ and ‘Golden’ from the new album.
‘Those are the things I think about when I’m alone, that I don’t like thinking about,’ Tyler continued. ‘It’s not hard to think about, it’s not hard to make, but I hate thinking about it, so I hate listening to it.’
But those songs he hates listening to, his human songs, are transcendentally good. The ones mentioned by Caramanica — “Bastard,” and “Inglorious” from Bastard, “Nightmare” and “Golden” from Goblin — are art. Pure and tortured artistic expression. You get the feeling Kurt Cobain would’ve written like this if he was obsessed with profanity. So when Tyler hits, he hits a home run. Nay, a grand slam. Nay, a grand salami.
And that’s the thing about Goblin — he hits. A lot.

I compared Tyler to Eminem in my previous post: “One of Eminem’s first albums, 1996′s Infinite, was not good but showed great promise. He was figuring his style out, discovering what kind of artist he wanted to be (which is fascinating to listen to now). I’d put Bastard above Infinite, but assuming Tyler will make an Em-like jump is not something I’ll guarantee, or even expect.”
When people reference The Slim Shady LP as Em’s best disc, which was technically the first to follow Infinite, I disagree. Compared to The Eminem Show or Recovery, it has low listenability. By that I mean the content is so consistently and unrelentingly graphic, and the album is so long, that it’s difficult to listen to the entire thing in one sitting, despite the music’s quality. The Slim Shady LP has low listenability. As do both Bastard and Goblin, which forced me to grade them lower. This is not a disc you’ll roll to this summer with the windows down — maybe only one or two songs won’t warrant the old couple in the next car to gawk and roll their windows up — but it will force you to remember Tyler.
“Goblin” is a great intro, but as he addresses in the track — “Pressure’s on me like a top-hat/Bastard intro, how the fuck I’m gonna top that” — his magnum opus “Bastard” is almost impossible to top. He doesn’t do it here, but he gets close. That’s as large of a compliment as I can give, considering how much I love “Bastard.” “Yonkers” boasts the most hypnotic beat of Tyler’s young career, complete with a controversial (what else?) B&W roach-eating-and-hanging video. The beat, tone and flow fit like a golden glove.
“Radicals” in plenty angry, but not quite effective enough, despite its “Kill people, burn shit, fuck school” chorus. Let that hook sink in for a second. “Nightmare” and “Tron Cat” are gripping, and force you to listen to every word. “Her” is awesome, a shameless and truthful commentary on the chivalry (using the word loosely) of our generation. “Bitch Suck Dick” is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard, but you get the sense that Tyler knows this, which is why he kills everyone on the track at the end. I almost wish I was one of them. “AU79″ is a gorgeous (and completely out of the blue) instrumental, signaling perhaps the greatest example of Tyler’s artistry.
What I like most about Tyler is his ability to stir up concerns in one’s personal, moral compass. My thought process: “This guy raps about killing and raping. He degrades women. He degrades everyone. He may be a killer in the near future. He really got in trouble in fifth grade for making a list of kids in class that he wanted to torture and kill? If I was in school with a kid like that, I’d flip my shit. That’s not normal. That’s far from normal. He’s insane. But wait, remember how good ‘Bastard’ is? One of the most original and honest rap songs I’ve ever heard. I respect that. A lot. Should I cheer for this kid? Should I listen to this kid? Should I promote it by buying his album, or should I just download it to stick it to him? Shouldn’t I acknowledge that the therapist give-and-take theme of his first two albums is genius? Aren’t I stunned at how he’s exponentially more confident on Goblin? Shouldn’t I be happy that he’s musically and lyrically inclined, and thank God that he’s found an outlet for all this internal rage? Isn’t that what a true artist is supposed to do?”
Contemplating Tyler reminds me of the moral of Scream 4: “How do you think people become famous anymore? You don’t have to achieve anything. You just gotta have fucked up shit happen to you.”
Tyler would have you believe he’s from that world. Yet his prodigious talent demands the limelight and points instead to what Goblin is: a true, modern-day artistic achievement.
Must-hear: “Goblin,” “Yonkers,” “Nightmare,” “Her,” “AU79,” “Golden”
